Lisa Wood, Lead Planner for the City of San Diego Environmental Services Department, joins ORION to provide a wealth of information on the history of waste in San Diego, waste management, and why our goal should be to eliminate waste. 

Lisa gives advice on how to approach this: "Major social change is needed to behave in less wasteful ways. Social change is difficult, but not impossible. After hearing this interview, if you are motivated to do your part to reduce waste, maybe you have decided to take a master composting class, or even better, start a community gardener. Great. In addition:  share your action plan with others.  Taking steps toward waste reduction can be contagious. Here is why: If I read on Twitter that you started a worm bin, I might think, 'if YOU can keep a worm bin, I an do that too.' This is how ideas spread. Do your part – and TALK about it!"
